At The Ode To we are always curious to learn more about creativity and artistry, so we asked Jasmine Børresen to tell us a little bit about her life, her art and her sources of inspiration.
What do you call your series of artworks?
– 'Acrylic Clouds' is the name of my series, an homage to the recurring clouds that have followed me for many years.
What technique have you used?
– I've employed the impasto technique using acrylic paints.
What inspired you to create the artworks you have made for The Ode To?
– During the COVID period, I took a break from creating artworks. After the birth of my daughter, she became my inspiration to resume my artistic journey. Art for me is about letting go and having fun. I wanted to experiment with a more sculptural approach to painting, amplifying 'the painterly gestures'.
Can you tell us about your background and how you came to be an artist?
– My Norwegian-Thai heritage influences my work, encouraging me to blend techniques and terminologies, thereby creating something novel and boundary-pushing. Exploring materials, thoughts, and interactions excites me. I've completed two years at a preliminary art school and obtained a bachelor's from Bergen Art Academy in Norway. Working creatively was expected of me, and now I flow with that inclination.
How would you describe your art and aesthetics in three words?
– Intuitive, tactile, painterly.
